GEOFF WEEKES

Principal Geotechnical Consultant

​Geoff has over 30 years’ experience in the mining industry, with more than 20 years in project management and geotechnical engineering roles, in both mining operations and consultancies. His areas of expertise include rock slope engineering, underground excavation and support design, blast optimisation for slopes, tailings and waste rock management and design, and business improvement studies from an engineering perspective. Geoff has worked in a range of operating environments in several countries including Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands over a range of commodities including gold, coal, iron ore and magnetite, base metals, uranium and industrial minerals. Geoff founded Red Rock Geotechnical in 2011.

PAT WALKER

Principal Geotechnical Consultant

​Patrick has over 35 years’ experience in the mining industry as a mining engineer, rock mechanics engineer, researcher and consultant. His areas of expertise include rock slope engineering, underground excavation and support design and blast engineering and fragmentation. Patrick has worked on projects in several countries including Southern Africa, Australia, Indonesia, Armenia, Mongolia, Peru and Canada over a range of commodities including gold, coal, iron ore and magnetite, copper, nickel and uranium.

TIM JOHNSON

Principal Geotechnical Consultant

​Tim has over 23 years’ experience in the mining industry, including more than 19 years in geotechnical design and operational risk management roles. His areas of expertise include rock slope & waste dump engineering, design and implementation of slope monitoring and risk management systems, structural geology modelling, and technical assurance and compliance auditing. Tim has led geotechnical operational and design teams supporting major iron ore and gold mining operations. Accountability in his previous roles included design signoff for 9 major multi-pit operations.

Will Sarunic

Principal Geotech Engineer

Will Sarunic is a geotechnical engineer with 30 years’ experience, specialising in open pit geotechnical engineering. This experience has been gained in a number of large scale open cuts in both hard and soft rock environments.  In more recent times, Will has focused on consulting services to a variety of projects involving rock slope design and stability assessments for projects in Australia and internationally.  Additionally, Will has been involved in many feasibility and bankable feasibility studies, working in a team environment ensuring the successful evaluation and advancement of the project.  He has carried out in-house and external consulting along with peer and due diligence reviews, while working on a range of commodities, including coal, industrial minerals, phosphate, mineral sands, iron ore, platinum group elements, gold, copper and nickel.
